Winter Refresh

With the holidays over, many of us are ready to hit the reset button. There’s no better place to start than with your home. A cozy weekend in Farmville to visit Green Front Furniture is the perfect way to freshen up your house, and your outlook, for the new year. We’ve got the ultimate cozy itinerary– complete with cabin stay–ready and waiting. All that’s missing is you!

Friday, January 17

7 PM | Bear Creek Lake State Park

Begin your weekend by checking into a cozy cabin at Bear Creek Lake State Park. Coming from Richmond, the park is only a 25 minute drive from Farmville. You’ll have a breathtaking view of the sparkling January stars from your spacious deck and plenty of peace and quiet nestled in the heart of the Cumberland State Forest.

Certain cabins feature stone fireplaces and all cabins have fully equipped kitchens to cook up a tasty dinner or a simple breakfast. Just add your favorite bottle of wine and you’re set for the perfect wintry evening. Find more details and book your stay here.

Saturday, January 18

10:30 AM | Kenny’s Health Food Emporium

Consider grabbing an early breakfast before you leave your cabin and saving plenty of room for an ultra-healthy brunch from Kenny’s Health Food Emporium. It will be the perfect fuel for your walking-intensive Green Front shopping adventure. Kenny’s handcrafted signature smoothies are blended fresh right in front of you from fruits, vegetables and other superfood ingredients and served in a cup literally overflowing with goodness. It’s easy to see why these luscious smoothies, and the shop itself, are Farmville favorites.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the choices on the menu, owner Kendal Albert is always happy to offer customers customized recommendations as well as share his expertise on the other health foods found in the shop.

11 AM | Green Front Furniture

Lace up your comfy shoes, locate a Field Guide (we recommend starting at Building 1) and get ready to explore over 900,000 square feet of retail space.

Green Front Furniture has one of the largest collections of orientals rugs on the East Coast and attracts visitors from up and down the Eastern seaboard. The array of choices in every type of furniture, home accessories and more will leave you awestruck.

Unless you’re just browsing, it helps to have pictures and a specific plan for the pieces you are trying to find. With heavily discounted prices on designer names, you’re sure to find items to refresh your space for the new year in no time.

3 PM | Charley’s Waterfront Cafe

Lunch at Charley’s Waterfront Cafe is a time-honored tradition for a day of shopping at Green Front. Not only is it impossible to beat the convenience factor, their beloved favorites like she-crab soup are perfect for warming you back up after a chilly day of dodging in and out of cool warehouses.

Take some time to rest and review your purchases while you enjoy items like The Waterfront (a delicious sandwich and staple of the Charley’s menu) or treat yourself to something delectable from their ever-changing dessert list.

4 PM | Mainly Clay & Red Door 104

Now that you’ve taken inventory of your new Green Front treasures, it’s time to finish the look with bespoke items from Mainly Clay and Red Door 104.

Find the perfect painting to pair with that new sofa at Red Door 104.  At Mainly Clay you can snag a set of mugs to adorn your new dining room table. Handcrafted items by local artists will add the perfect extra “something” to your new Green Front pieces.

5:30 PM | Virginia Tasting Cellar

It’s time to reward yourself with libations from this unique Farmville establishment. Combining wineries from around the state into one location with tons of ambience, the Virginia Tasting Cellar has been described as a year-round wine festival.

It’s the perfect way to round out your day. Enjoy a glass of mulled cider by the fire on the wide, open deck and reflect on your Farmville adventures. It’s time to start planning which of your new pieces will go where when you get home.

Cozy. Refreshed. Ready to take on 2020. That’s how we hope you’re feeling after your weekend in Farmville. We know we are. We can’t wait for your next adventure when you visit Farmville.
