Get ready to see the world through rose-colored glasses during a weekend of adventure, art and activity. Farmville is bursting with sweet fun for the whole family. Best of all, we promise no one will turn pink from these kid-tested, parent-approved activities.
DAY ONE
11:00am Family fun at the LCVA
There’s always something to see at the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts. From family-friendly exhibits to seasonal art workshops, you’ll find something to entertain everyone.
Color and draw, craft and create. This is the perfect space to let little minds be inspired by the art around them. Before you leave, don’t forget to check out what’s on view throughout the rest of this 20,000 square foot gallery.
12:30pm Uptown Coffee Cafe
Crispy, golden grilled cheese sandwiches and a few scoops of creamy strawberry ice cream are the perfect way to follow up your artsy adventure. Not in the mood for grilled cheese? They have oodles of delicious sandwiches and salads to choose from.
Have fun people watching at this beloved Farmville favorite, where it’s always bustling with activity. Grab a spot facing Main Street, and enjoy the views of downtown Farmville on Saturday afternoon.
1:30pm Outdoor Adventure Store
You’re just steps away from your next adventure. Head down the street towards the Appomattox River for some memorable family magic. Put on your helmets and get ready to let everyone’s wiggles out with a bike ride on beautiful High Bridge Trail courtesy of the The Outdoor Adventure Store.
You can make it all the way to the historic High Bridge itself or pick your own distance based on the endurance of little legs.
3:30pm Check-in Hotel Weyanoke
Everyone will be ready to sink into Hotel Weyanoke’s custom-made Kingsdown mattresses for an afternoon nap. If you’re ready for a snack, there’s in-room dining, along with a host of helpful amenities, like valet parking.
Don’t miss the family photo op on the fourth floor where Catbird Rooftop offers views of the entire town.
5:30pm Three Roads Brewing
You’re less than 0.3 miles from your next destination so feel free to leave the car. There’s plenty of room for the whole family to spread out and play in the beer garden.
Giant Jenga blocks, bocci ball, free popcorn and board games are just a few of the things that make Three Roads Brewing perfect for folks of all ages. Food trucks are onsite most Saturdays and Sundays. At the tap, mom and dad can choose between flagship beers and seasonal selections. Young ones can sip made-to-order ginger beer and custom citrus sodas.
8:00pm Head back to Hotel Weyanoke
It’s time for butterfly kisses and bedtime stories for everyone before another fun-filled day in Farmville tomorrow.
DAY TWO
9:00am Breakfast at Effingham’s
Start your day by heading down to Hotel Weyanoke’s in-house restaurant, Effingham’s, for a delicious breakfast in a gorgeous, open setting. Choose between fresh-squeezed orange juice, Counter Culture coffee and a wide selection of breakfast options.
The kids will love classic crowd-pleasers like pancakes and french toast while mom and dad can try the fruit-garnered savory Dutch Baby. Effingham’s also has quick “to-go” selections, including avocado toast, pastries and more if you’re running behind.
11:00am Adventure Park at Sandy River
Your family will be soaring in the treetops during this 3-hour aerial adventure. You will bond with one another as you experience over 500 feet of zip lines more than 50 feet in the air guided by Sandy River Outdoor Adventures’ highly trained staff.
