Start your day with crisp cool air, gorgeous fall views and guided tour of the High Bridge Trail. There’s nothing quite as autumnal as a ride along the stunning High Bridge Trail with foggy morning mists lifting from the trees while a seasoned park ranger explains the fascinating history of this stunning landmark. Whether you’ve seen it before or for the first time, your first views of the bridge itself, towering above the Appomattox River, bright with fall foliage are sure to make your heart skip a beat. Could this be love? Bring your own bikes or rent them from the Outdoor Adventure Store located at the Farmville Downtown Plaza to enjoy this start to your day.

mulled wine at VTC

Once you’re back from the bridge, get rested and refreshed with lunch and drinks at Virginia Tasting Cellar. Their wide open porch (tucked beneath Charley’s Waterfront Cafe) will gather you close to the banks of the Appomattox and allow you to kick back, enjoy a glass of wine and order a delicious lunch from upstairs. Make sure to grab the swing in the corner if it’s available for some can’t-miss Instagram photos or cozy up next to one of two crackling fireplaces. Don’t forget to order a glass (or two) of the signature mulled cider before heading downtown. Is that the cider or the warm glow of “falling” in love you’re starting to feel in your heart? We think we know.

Vintage Antique Shack

It’s time to dive into some shopping. From Green Front Furniture’s endless treasures and surprises, to all the exciting and lovely finds at gems like Penelope– this might be the perfect time to start checking off those Christmas lists. We wouldn’t blame you if you decided to just treat yourself instead, possibly to that perfect piece of fall decor? Certainly shops like the Vintage Antique Shack have plenty of unique items to tempt you with. There’s so much to discover when you’re falling in love and our downtown shopping is no exception.

Mill Street Sweets on Main

How sweet it is. Mill Street Sweets on Main, that is. Fuel up for more exploring and falling in love with a stop into a new Farmville favorite. Delicious desserts, from fresh baked cakes, cheesecakes, pies, brownies, pastries and more are on the menu at this charming shop on Main Street. Get a coffee and something decadent to tickle your tastebuds from their ever changing selection. You’ll be glad you did.

Three Roads Brewing

As the early evening light starts to fade, it’s the perfect time to make your way somewhere cozy, warm and friendly. It’s hard to find anywhere warmer and friendlier than our local brewery. Three Roads Brewing Company will round out your day of falling in love with Farmville in the best possible way. With delicious brews, a blazing fire and sparkling beer garden, grab a place by the fire or inside and enjoy! Doesn’t it feel great to be in love?
