Step back in time and experience the power and precision of Civil War-era firepower during this ranger-led musket demonstration, held within the historic grounds of Camp Paradise. Once occupied by Confederate artillery units defending High Bridge, Camp Paradise offers a unique and authentic setting to explore the sights, sounds, and tactics of 1860s battlefield life.
During this live-fire program, visitors will:
– Witness the loading and firing procedures of an authentic Civil War musket.
– Learn about the training, discipline, and challenges faced by soldiers in camp and in combat.
– Discover how firearms technology and battlefield strategy influenced the outcome of the war.
– Gain insight into the history and importance of Camp Paradise during the Appomattox Campaign.
This program is ideal for visitors of all ages seeking a deeper understanding of Civil War military life. Ear protection is encouraged due to loud noise. This program will be held within the historic fortifications, a short walk from the Visitor Center. We hope to see you on the trail!
