The story of a man wrapped in legend, contradiction, and unanswered questions, this program invites visitors to explore the puzzling personality of Richard Ewell, a commander whose reputation has shifted, stretched, and sparked debate for more than a century. We look at the stories told about him, the ones history forgets to mention, and the traits that made him both memorable and misunderstood. This is a chance to uncover what is truth, what is rumor, and what still lies in the shadowed spaces of Ewell’s long and complicated life. Speak to a ranger in the Visitor Center to start this program anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
