Bring your family and join us for National Kids to Parks Day! This exciting event offers hands-on activities and engaging programs designed to connect kids with history, nature, and outdoor adventure.

Leaf Printing Art (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.):

Make beautiful keepsake art from nature and learn about some of our native trees of High Bridge Trail. You will be amazed at how wonderful these prints will turn out, and you might want to frame yours to enjoy for years to come. This activity is appropriate for children and adults.

Civil War Touch Table (12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.):

Wonder over artifacts found on our battlefield, and handle replicas of American Civil War objects as you learn how High Bridge was a pivotal place in space and time for our nation’s destiny.

Self-Guided Junior Ranger Program (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.):

Become a Junior Ranger and earn your badge. Pick up a Junior Ranger booklet from the Visitor Center and embark on a self-guided adventure combining history and nature. Explore the trail to uncover fascinating facts about the park’s Civil War history and ecological wonders while completing fun, interactive activities.

About National Kids to Parks Day

Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
