On this Barbara Rose Johns Day, we honor a legacy rooted in courage, community, and the belief that change is possible.

In that spirit, we’re excited to invite you to the Moton Family Reunion – a day to reflect, connect, and recognize the legacy that helped change the course of our nation.

As we mark 75 years since the 1951 student strike, 25 years of the Robert Russa Moton Museum, and this broader moment of reflection with America’s 250, we’re coming together like family—making time to be in one place, to reconnect, and to share in what matters most.

Come ready for great food, amazing music with live performances, cultural experiences, and outdoor fun and activities—set within a day designed for you to move through, enjoy, and make it your own.

Throughout the day, you’ll find a variety of programs and projects to engage with, including opportunities to share and preserve your story through our oral history and collections work. You’ll also be able to explore a curated mix of artisans, makers, and small businesses offering goods and experiences that reflect culture, creativity, and community.

Whether you stop by for a while or stay for it all, this is a day to catch up, meet someone new, and simply enjoy being together.

Free and open to the public. All are welcome.

Mark your calendars now. More details are on the way.
