Restore Our Earth is this year’s Earth Day theme, so we hope you’ll join us on this special day as we do our part to restore habitat for some of the most important species in the world–pollinators.
10:00 a.m. Build-a-Bug Are you a pollinator? Are ants pollinators? Together we’ll explore what it takes to be a good pollinator, then we’ll use that information to design our very own bugs.
1:00 p.m. Planting the Seed First, we’ll use upcycled newspaper to create small, biodegradable plant pots. Next, we’ll plant seeds in these pots from some of our pollinators’ favorite plants. Once they germinate (this takes approximately two weeks), you can plop everything–pot and all–into the soil. Watch as your plant grows and attracts happy pollinators.
3:00 p.m. House Hunters: Insect Edition We’re going to use upcycled and found natural materials to create a bug’s dream home. Sometimes called a “bug hotel,” these “homes” will provide shelter for pollinators.
