The Main Event: The Feast!
Visiting Farmville right before Thanksgiving? Stop by one of these local gems for homemade jams, baked goods, eggs, produce, meats, and more to add to your Thanksgiving celebration.
Pineview Bulk Food & Deli
A bit off the beaten path, Pineview is an Amish grocery store and deli located a couple of miles outside town. Their homemade baked goods (think rolls, cornbread, and zucchini bread) will act as perfect sides to your Thanksgiving feast. Or pick up a specialty: Shoofly pie, flavored with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and molasses. You’ll also find canned goods: jams, jellies, and pickles, as well as dried goods like fruits and nuts. All that shopping can build up an appetite! While you’re there, try Pineview’s made-to-order sandwiches or a homemade soup. (We recommend the lobster bisque!)
Miller’s Country Store
Another popular, Amish-run business in Farmville is Miller’s on West Third Street. In addition to all of the staples and their own selection of soups and sandwiches to go, Miller’s offers eggnog and custard from Homestead Creamery, as well as apple cider from Morris Orchard. They bake a variety of pies fresh every Thursday and are known for their scrumptious cakes: apple, carrot, sour cream, and lemon. Live close by? Miller’s will take special orders up until the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Just send them a message on Facebook or give them a call.
Mill Street Sweets on Main
For the perfect confection, stop by Mill Street Sweets on Main. With seasonal pastries and doughnuts, as well as unique baked goods, they’ll bring a little whimsy to your holiday table — funfetti whoopie pie, anyone? Want to place a special order for the holidays? Call the store for options and note: they deliver!
Headstart on Christmas Anyone?
While any of our local businesses offer great Christmas gifts, check out the Sleeping Bee for those “frivolous necessities” you know your friends and family will love. The Sleeping Bee offers both home accents and gifts. Who knows? You might just find a little holiday sparkle in their window when you walk by.
So come on down to Farmville! Find the perfect elements to outfit your Thanksgiving table. Explore our Main Street shops and our old country stores. From the table itself to the decor to the eats, we’ll inspire you to get creative with all that is seasonal and local.
Cheers to a meaningful reunion around the table this Thanksgiving!
