New Year: New Adventures

Farmville Love Sign

This year, we are putting the “new” in the new year. A visit to Farmville offers so many opportunities to try something new. From camping to taking a walk through landmark historical decisions, the new year has never been a better time to #FindItInFarmville. Read on to discover just a few of the amazing experiences a trip to Farmville can offer.

Camping

You don’t have to be the outdoorsy type to appreciate camping in Farmville, though if you are, we’ve got plenty for you to enjoy too! Sandy River Outdoor Adventure pushes the line between camping, glamping and a downright luxury experience with their tipis. If something a bit more traditional is your style, our local state parks have gorgeously maintained campsites and miles of hiking trails and state forest to explore. Farmville also has a wonderful selection of cozy cabins perfect for a weekend getaway. Grab that sleeping bag, and get into the great outdoors.

Paddling: Canoe, Kayak, Paddle Board

They say life is better on the water, and we believe that’s true. Between our lakes and reservoirs, we have plenty of it here for water lovers to explore. We also have no shortage of ways to explore it. Whether you prefer to canoe, kayak or paddleboard, we can get you on the water and surrounded by the pristine beauty of nature quicker than you can say, “Boat Paddle.”

Boating/Fishing

What’s better for the new year than some brand new “big fish” stories? We’ve got those covered too. It may be a little-known fact about Farmville, but we have some of the best boating and fishing in the central Virginia region—definitely worth a drive from DC, Newport News or Richmond.

Hiking & Biking

We know you’re tired of that same old walking path through your neighborhood. Maybe that familiar trail a block away has lost its allure. What you need is a visit to Farmville for some fresh, new, exciting hiking and biking. We have trails to get your heart rate pumping and you feeling exhilarated. From flat and even routes to more challenging terrain, challenge yourself with a walking or bike path and a change in scenery that will shake up your regular routine—a perfect kickstart to your healthy goals for 2021.

Zip Lining

This is an extra exciting adventure you can mark your calendar for and schedule in advance. Sandy River Outdoor Adventures begins offering their signature high-ropes course experience in the late spring. With obstacles, zip lines and more, you feel like you’ve already accomplished it all once you check this incredible adventure off your list. It’s 2021, and we are already being more productive. Cheers to that.

Civil Rights Education

More than ever before, this is a time to discover real history in a meaningful, new way. Farmville is proud to be the home of the Robert Russa Moton Museum, which offers you and your family virtual and in-person ways to experience the world of the student strikers, from the tar paper shacks to the auditorium they sat in. Outside the museum, the Civil Rights Heritage Trail lets you walk in the footsteps of history. History is always new again with valuable lessons for each of us when you visit the Moton Museum.

Whatever you love, whatever “new” you’re into, you can #FindItInFarmville. We can’t wait to see you!
