Directions from Washington, D.C.

From D.C., follow signs for I-395 S and I-95 S to Richmond. Passing through Richmond, follow signs for VA-76 S/Powhite Pkwy. Briefly merge on to VA- 288 S and then merge onto US-360 W to 27 miles. Take VA-307 W to US-460 W and follow until you see the signs for Farmville exists on your right. 

Drive time: approximately 2 hours 50 min or more (Can vary depending on traffic)

Distance: 168 miles.

Directions from Charlottesville 

From Charlottesville, follow signs for VA-20 S. Stay on VA-20 for approximately 38.4 miles. Take a right on to US-15 S for approximately 17.9 miles. Take a right on to US-15 BUS S/US-460 BUS E/W 3rd St and continue 4.1 miles to arrive in the heart of town. 

Drive time: approximately 1 hr 17 min.

Distance: 61 miles

Directions from Richmond

From Richmond, follow signs for 76 S and US 360 W. Follow 360 W for approximately 27 miles and then take a slight right onto VA-307 W to 460 W and follow 460 W till you see signs for Farmville exits on your right.

Drive time: approximately 1hr 15 min.

Distance: 64.4 miles


BRACE FOR ADVENTURE

Your adventure starts in the treetops. Welcome to The Adventure Park at Sandy River Outdoor Adventures located at 147 Monroe Church Road, Rice. For several breath-taking hours in and above the branches, you’ll climb, swing, and fly to the time of your life on 60 obstacles and 20 ziplines. The adventure park offers experienced guides who will walk you through the whole process on the ground, from belays to buckles, and will be there to guide you every thrilling step of the way! Sandy River Outdoor Adventures is located in Rice, minutes from the heart of downtown Farmville.

GET READY TO EXPLORE

Once your feet are back on solid ground, hop in the car and into the heart of Farmville to The Outdoor Adventure Store located at 318 North Main Street in Farmville, VA 23901. Your bike rentals and new adventures are waiting! You’ll pick up your bikes from The Outdoor Adventure Store and take a right to head out exploring on the High Bridge Trail. Enjoy the converted rails-to-trails line as it winds through tree-lined fields and other bucolic vistas. The trail itself is over 30 miles long and the perfect place for bird-watching, nature-spotting, and more.

DISCOVER A HIDDEN GEM

After an easy 30 to 45 minute pedal from Farmville, you’ll be welcomed to the High Bridge. One hundred twenty-five feet high, 2,400 feet long and located just 4.5 miles from the Downtown Farmville Plaza, this gorgeous, historical landmark is worth exploring from all angles. Fortunately, due to the dedication of Virginia State Parks, you’re in luck. Enjoy views from above of both Prince Edward and Cumberland Counties then head down below for an up-close peek at the original brick bridge girders and the splashing waters of the Appomattox River. You’ll make the relaxed ride back to town to enjoy a well-deserved meal after you’re done checking out this delightful hidden gem.

North Street Press Club

DINE LIKE THE LOCALS

Once you’ve turned your bikes back into The Adventure Store, North Street Press Club is an easy walk or only minutes away via car. If you’re walking, you can make a left on the High Bridge Trail and stop at Three Roads Brewing for an ice-cold pint before heading back down West Third Street and up North Street. Enjoy “global grub and local vibes” at North Street Press Club. From the chic decor to the modern outdoor patio, the Press Club is the perfect place to find something from around the world to tease your palette and recharge you from a day of exploring. Fun fact, the restaurant is located in a former newspaper printing building, thus the name.
