Start your new year with constructive and invigorating action by joining us for a First Day Hike. We are offering two guided walks for this event.
Our second hike, starting at 1 p.m., will be a walk to High Bridge and explore our park’s place in national and local history. Although this walk is not themed for dogs like the earlier hike, well-behaved dogs on leashes are still welcome.
These out and back hikes are on easy terrain and are ADA accessible. The total distance each hike covers is less than one mile. Cold temperatures and wind are possible, so please dress accordingly.
About First Day Hikes
Every year on Jan. 1, Virginia State Parks celebrates First Day Hikes. This nationwide initiative invites people to ring in the new year by connecting with nature and making lasting memories at a state park. Ranger-led and self-guided First Day Hikes are offered across the state, giving visitors of all ages and skill levels the chance to explore outdoors. January 1 is a Free Parking Day at all Virginia State Parks. (The admission fee at Natural Bridge still applies).
